What is it?
Holistic massage looks at the whole person (hol-istic) – your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. The treatment is personalised to you as you are on the day, so you can shape precisely what you want the focus of each massage to be. I work with you, bringing my own expertise and care, and responding to your unique needs. The therapy is deeply nurturing.
What techniques do you use?
Holistic massage is based around Swedish massage, and includes techniques like energy holds. Depending on your requirements, however, I may incorporate techniques from other types of massage, such as deep tissue work, or joint mobilisations. My training included studies of anatomy, physiology and pathology, as well as emotional and spiritual/energic wellbeing, and how all these elements interact with each other; I also hold an MSc in Psychology.
What's it for?
You can use holistic massage for most reasons: to relax; to reduce stiffness or pain in a particular area; to support your health; to overcome stresses, emotional difficulties, or energy imbalances; to nurture deeper personal growth. It can leave you relaxed or energised. No two sessions need to be the same. It all depends on you.
“Emma is a great communicator and clearly understands where I’m coming from. She has a really good sense of muscles and bodies, and communication with bodies. I’m a tricky customer, but she gives me exactly the massage we agree on and the results I want.”
